It was 1931 when French chemists, Briedel and Lavieille, successfully isolated two important components responsible for stevia’s sweet taste; two steviol glycosides named Stevioside and Rebaudiaside. It is this remarkable and important discovery that, be it many years later, is set to revolutionize the global sweetener industry. The time has come for this discovery to positively influence how the food and beverage industry sweeten our products; an important step towards positively impacting our health and well-being. It should come as no surprise that this inspired us to name our venture, in honor and remembrance of Briedel and Lavieille, Stevia 1931. See the infographic below on the history of Stevia.
