On 11/11/2011 the day finally arrived. The long anticipated EU approval of steviol glycosides use as a food additive has finally come. The substance is refereed to as an E number, the European system for labeling food additives. The recommended Acceptable Daily Intake (ADI) for steviol glycosides, expressed as steviol equivalents, was set at 4 mg/kg body-weight/day.
