The Dutch paper Trouw reported that 250.000 Dutch people, between the ages of 30-70 have an increased blood sugar level. Without intervention they are expected to become diabetic within 6 years. Due to increased ageing and obesity Holland is expected to count 1.3 million diabetics by 2025.
Currently Holland counts 800.000 diabetics of which about 90% is due to an unhealthy eating habits. Unfortunately this problem is not unique to Holland but a very serious issue in most western countries but also increasingly in developing countries.
